Overview

This 3.5-hour walking tour in Naples takes place in the historic city center, known as the “Tastiest kilometer in the world,” a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour begins at Port’Alba, a gateway built in 1625 that connects Piazza Dante to the old city and the famous Street of Books. The first stop is a well-established pizzeria where participants taste a pizza with scarole, made with escarole, olives, and nuts, reflecting traditional local cuisine. Next, the group walks to Piazza del Gesù to visit the Church of Gesù Nuovo, where they learn about the church’s unique facade and a World War II story related to it. The tour continues with a tasting of pizza montanara at Passione di Sofì, a flash-fried dough pizza inspired by King Ferdinand of Bourbon’s secret love. Afterwards, the group visits a historic palace dating back to 1412 that once served as the Venetian embassy to the Kingdom of Naples. Here, participants enjoy a classic Venetian spritz in the hanging garden surrounded by art. The tour then reaches Piazzetta Nilo, a small square featuring the ancient statue of the Nile God, believed to bring luck. At Pizzeria Attanasio, a family-run venue in the historic center, guests skip the line to taste three pizzas: Margherita, fried pizza, and a seasonal variety. The tour ends at Piazza San Domenico Maggiore, surrounded by notable landmarks, before visiting Pasticceria Scaturchio to sample the Ministeriale, a chocolate dessert made since 1905. Included in the tour are two cocktails - the Neapolitan limoncello twist and the Venetian spritz - and a sweet treat. A local English-speaking guide provides commentary throughout. All food and drink tastings are included, offering at least six different types of pizza and local drinks, providing a slice of Naples with Eating Europe.
