Overview

This afternoon bus tour starts with transportation from Kyoto or Osaka toward Nara. Travelers will pass through the suburban areas between Kyoto and Nara while enjoying views from the window. The tour lasts about five hours and forty minutes and is led by a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter, except for the Osaka departure option where an English-speaking assistant accompanies the group. The first major stop is Todai-ji Temple, a World Heritage Site and a symbol of the Nara Period. Visitors walk about 25 minutes from the parking lot to the temple grounds, where they can see the large wooden main hall and the bronze Great Buddha statue. After approximately seventy minutes here, the group moves on to Nara Park, where wild deer live freely and are considered sacred messengers of Kasuga Taisha Shrine. The next visit is Kasuga Taisha Shrine, also a World Heritage Site starting January 2025. The tour includes entrance to the shrine grounds and the newly added Main Sanctuary special visit area, where guests can get closer to the sanctuary and observe the hanging lanterns in the corridor. This stop lasts about one hour. If the special visit area is closed due to events or operations, the tour will instead visit the Kasuga Taisha Museum or Todaiji Museum. Admission fees and transportation are included, but entrance to the Treasures Hall and Manyo Botanical Gardens at Kasuga Shrine, lunch, drinks, and hotel pickup or drop-off are not included.
