Overview

This tour features a two-and-a-half-hour cruise on the Mississippi River aboard the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen, departing from New Orleans. A licensed historian provides narration covering 300 years of the city's history, from its founding by the LeMoyne Brothers to Hurricane Katrina. The boat passes sights such as the French Quarter and the Port of New Orleans. A cash bar is available on board, and guests may purchase an optional Creole lunch during the cruise. About halfway through, the vessel docks at Chalmette Battlefield, part of the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, for a one-hour guided tour led by a National Park Ranger. The tour includes the Battle of New Orleans site, the Malus-Beauregard House, and the Chalmette Monument. Restrooms are available on the boat throughout the trip. Boarding begins at 1:30 PM, and the boat departs at 2 PM. The Paddlewheeler is wheelchair accessible with a mechanical lift, but the Chalmette Battlefield is not wheelchair accessible. The tour is subject to weather conditions, and outside food or beverages are not allowed on board.
