Overview

This 90-minute boat cruise departs from St John's and travels to the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve. The cruise offers opportunities to watch puffins, whales, and icebergs, depending on the season. Puffins nest in the area from May until mid-September. Whale sightings are most common from mid-June to mid-August but can occur outside this period. Icebergs are typically visible from May to mid-June. Sightings of whales and icebergs are not guaranteed on any cruise. The tour takes place on a spacious catamaran equipped with indoor seating and washrooms for passenger comfort. The vessel is operated by a Transport Canada certified crew who provide a safety briefing before departure. Onboard naturalists and crew offer live, educational commentary about the marine wildlife and local heritage of Newfoundland. All required safety equipment is provided. Free parking is available on site. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers should follow crew instructions for safety and may be asked to remain seated during certain parts of the cruise due to sea conditions. The cruise operates in all weather, so appropriate clothing is recommended. Transportation from select hotels is available for an additional fee if arranged at least two hours before the tour.
