Located on a basalt outcrop on Northern Ireland’s Antrim coast, Dunluce Castle dates back to the 13th century. It served as the seat of Clan MacDonnell and withstood invasions from land and sea during medieval times. The castle overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and has appeared in Game of Thrones as Pyke, the seat of House Greyjoy. It also inspired C.S. Lewis’s Cair Paravel in Narnia and featured in the Jackie Chan film The Medallion.

This site contains over 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, most of which are hexagonal but can have up to 8 sides, formed by volcanic lava cooling millions of years ago. Legend says the giant Finn McCool built it as a bridge to Scotland. Visitors spend about 90 minutes walking among the columns, which are recognized worldwide as a significant geological heritage site.
