Merced Neighborhood Tour
The tour begins in a traditional Oaxaca neighborhood where participants receive a chiquigüite and mandil to shop at the market in the traditional way. The route passes through the Merced neighborhood, featuring churches, parks with large trees, and houses made of pink, green, and yellow quarry stone. Along the way, some local producers of fresh organic vegetables from a nearby town are visited, as well as vendors in the neighborhood market where snacks are sampled and ingredients for vegetarian Oaxacan cuisine are purchased. The group then returns to the starting point to begin the cooking class with a menu introduction.
