This six-hour mezcal journey starts in the center of Oaxaca City and travels to the towns of San Pablo Villa de Mitla and Santiago Matatlán. The first stop is a 45-minute walking tour through large agave fields near Mitla, where thousands of agave plants grow. Visitors learn about the agave plant and have time for a couple of activities and photographs. Next, the tour continues to an artisanal mezcal distillery in Santiago Matatlán for a two-hour visit. Here, the traditional process of making mezcal is explained step by step. The visit includes an unlimited tasting of different varieties and categories of mezcal.
