Overview

This six-hour mezcal journey starts in the center of Oaxaca City and travels to the towns of San Pablo Villa de Mitla and Santiago Matatlán. The first stop is a 45-minute walking tour through large agave fields near Mitla, where thousands of agave plants grow. Visitors learn about the agave plant and have time for a couple of activities and photographs. Next, the tour continues to an artisanal mezcal distillery in Santiago Matatlán for a two-hour visit. Here, the traditional process of making mezcal is explained step by step. The visit includes an unlimited tasting of different varieties and categories of mezcal. The day ends with a one-hour traditional Oaxacan lunch at a local restaurant. The tour includes alcoholic beverages, bottled water, air-conditioned transportation, and lunch. This stop includes a visit to an artisanal mezcal factory where the entire production process is explained step by step. After the explanation, there is unlimited tasting of different mezcal varieties, along with information about the categories and classes of mezcal.
