Overview

Old Delhi is known for its dense streets full of local vendors and a wide variety of street food. This four-hour food and sightseeing tour visits several popular spots in Old Delhi, including the bustling spice market, Chandni Chowk, and Jama Masjid mosque. The tour begins at Gate 1 of Rajiv Chowk Metro Station in Connaught Place, where the group gathers. From there, participants travel by rickshaw through the narrow streets of Old Delhi. Along the way, the guide introduces a range of vegetarian street foods such as chole bhature, dahi bhalla, aloo chaat, parathas, lassi, jalebis, and local rice and bread puddings. Meat eaters can also try Indian fried chicken in the Matia Mahal neighborhood near the end of the tour. Stops include about 40 minutes at Pasar Chandni Chowk to sample snacks like dahi bhalla and jalebi, followed by an hour at Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market, where chole bhature is served. The last hour is spent near Jama Masjid, where the mosque is viewed from outside while tasting marinated chicken and finishing with desserts like kheer and shahi tukda. Soft drinks are available throughout. Note that the spice market has reduced activity on Sundays and is closed for the 5:00 pm tour.
