Overview

Quebec City’s Old Town dates back centuries as one of North America’s oldest urban areas, with layered history visible in its buildings and streets. This private walking tour lasts about two to three hours and is led by a licensed local guide who adjusts the pace and focus to the group’s interests. The walk covers archaeological sites, old homes, large cathedrals, fortifications, and narrow streets, each with historical significance. The tour includes hotel pickup within the Old Quebec area and one funicular ticket per person to help navigate the elevation between Upper and Lower Town. The route passes landmarks such as the Parliament of Quebec, Tourny Fontaine, Plains of Abraham, Chapelle of the Ursulines, Quebec City Hall, and Dufferin Terrace. Participants spend about one hour exploring Upper Town sites and another hour in Lower Town, with a three-hour period dedicated to views over all Old Quebec. The walk also covers the Breakneck Steps, Royale Place, Notre Dame de Quebec, the city gates and walls, Quebec City Mural, La Promenade des Gouverneurs, and the Old Port. If the funicular is unavailable, the operator can arrange a taxi ride to the hilltop or provide the ticket for use later in the visit if guests prefer to walk. The tour involves moderate walking, so comfortable shoes are advised. Groups are limited to eight people and the tour runs in all weather conditions. Gratuities are not included.
