Overview

This small-group day trip lasts about 9 and a half hours and visits key filming locations from the Outlander TV series near Edinburgh. Travel by air-conditioned vehicle with a local English-speaking guide who shares historical information and stories related to each site. The tour includes stops at Midhope Castle, known as Lallybroch and Jamie Fraser’s home, where visitors have around 30 minutes to explore. Next, the tour visits Doune Castle, used as Castle Leoch in the show. This well-preserved medieval castle offers about an hour for exploration. The trip continues to Culross in the Kingdom of Fife, a village representing ‘Cranesmuir’ where Claire was accused of witchcraft. Guests spend roughly an hour here viewing the 17th- and 18th-century burgh. After lunch, the tour proceeds to Falkland, which served as 1940s Inverness in the series. With over 28 listed buildings, this village illustrates the period well and offers about 45 minutes to visit. The final stop is Blackness Castle, a 15th-century fortress featured as Fort William. Visitors have nearly an hour to see the site before returning to Edinburgh. Entry to Doune, Midhope, and Blackness castles is not included unless selected and can be purchased at check-in. Food, drinks, hotel transfers, and gratuities are not included.
