Overview

This 3.5-hour walking food tour in Palermo begins at Porta Nuova, the city's oldest street originally laid out by the Phoenicians to connect the old port with a necropolis. The group then visits Palermo Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, for a 30-minute stop. Along the route, participants taste more than ten traditional Sicilian dishes including classic arancini filled with Sicilian olives, cheese, and charcuterie; Palermitan spiced sausage (mild); a local vegetable mix; pasta alla Norma; panelle and crocché, which are local favorites; real cannoli; and a signature secret dish. These tastings are paired with coffee, a glass of white wine, and a shot of Zibibbo sweet wine. The tour continues through La Vucciria market, originally a butcher area that now sells fish, fruit, and vegetables, followed by Ballarò market, one of Palermo's oldest and most vibrant street markets with Arab origins. The final stop includes a break with locally brewed coffee before the tour concludes. The itinerary includes about seven stops, each lasting around 30 minutes, combining tastings and sightseeing. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included, and gratuities for the guide are not covered.
