This guided tour begins with a descent more than 60 feet underground into the Paris Catacombs, a network of tunnels stretching 200 miles beneath the city. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and covers approximately one mile of walking, including around 130 steps down and 85 steps back up. Visitors explore ossuaries containing the remains of millions of Parisians, arranged along corridors and often in artistic patterns. The guide explains the history behind the Catacombs, including the overcrowding of cemeteries that led to their creation, and shares legends and stories related to the site. The tour includes access to areas not open to other visitors. Temperatures inside the Catacombs are about 14 degrees Celsius. After the underground visit, the tour concludes at the Paris Catacombs gift shop where souvenirs can be purchased. An optional upgrade offers a narrated one-hour Seine river cruise that starts and ends at the Eiffel Tower. This cruise passes landmarks such as the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Petit Palais, the Musée d'Orsay, and the Conciergerie. The river cruise ticket is valid for one year from the date of the tour and is not included in the basic tour price.
