Penang Hill is the oldest British Hill Station in Southeast Asia, established in the late 1700s. Its highest peak rises to 833 meters (2,732 feet) above sea level. The funicular track runs 1,996 meters (1.99 km) from the Lower Station to the Upper Station, making it the longest in Asia. The funicular tunnel is 79 meters (258 feet) long, 3 meters (10 feet) wide, and has a steepness of 27.9 degrees, the steepest tunnel track worldwide. The viewing deck near the Upper Station is designed to give visitors ample space and clear views of the surroundings.
