Overview

This full-day coach trip lasts about eight hours and starts in El Calafate. Passengers travel along Route 11 beside Lago Argentino while the guide explains local wildlife and the importance of the Patagonian Ice Fields. The first view of Perito Moreno Glacier is at the Curve of the Sighs, where the glacier’s 60-meter-high front wall and surrounding landscape are visible. Next, visitors spend time on the park’s elevated walkways that provide multiple viewing platforms for photos and observation of the glacier’s ice formations and cliffs. The optional one-hour boat ride departs from Puerto Bajo Las Sombras. It crosses the Rico Arm of Lago Argentino, bringing passengers close to the glacier’s towering front and floating icebergs while they watch ice chunks break off into the lake. After these activities, there is about three hours of free time to explore, rest, or eat lunch at nearby restaurants with glacier views. The day ends with a coach ride back to El Calafate. Included are a local guide, national park walkway access, air conditioning on the coach, hotel pickup and drop-off, and the boat ride if selected. Entrance fees, food, drinks, and tips are not included.
