Overview

Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the largest glaciers within Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina. This full-day bus tour from El Calafate lasts about 8 to 9 hours and includes hotel pickup and drop-off. The trip begins with a scenic drive along the southern shore of Argentine Lake, crossing the Patagonian steppe and stopping briefly at the Curve of Sighs for photos. Upon arriving at Los Glaciares National Park, visitors must purchase entrance tickets. The guide explains the network of walkways, which offer different viewpoints of the glacier’s walls, crevasses, and ice formations. Guests have about 4 hours to explore the walkways at their own pace, visit the main balcony, and observe the surrounding Andean Patagonian forest. Lunch is not included, but there is a restaurant and snack bar within the park, or visitors may bring their own food. Those who select the boat safari option take an additional one-hour boat ride on the Rico Branch of Lago Argentino. This cruise offers close-up views of the glacier’s front wall and floating icebergs, and passengers may see ice breaking off into the lake. After the visit, the tour returns to El Calafate, arriving around 5 to 5:30 p.m. The tour includes air-conditioned transport and a bilingual professional guide. Note that the tour involves a moderate number of stairs and schedules may vary due to weather or group needs.
