Overview

Pompeii is an ancient Roman city near the Gulf of Naples, preserved by volcanic ash from Mount Vesuvius's eruption in AD 79. This full-day tour from Sorrento begins with a guided visit to the archaeological park of Pompeii. Visitors explore the ruins for about two hours, walking through streets lined with houses, baths, bakeries, and frescoes. The guide uses headphones to provide detailed commentary throughout the visit. After Pompeii, the tour includes a typical lunch at a winery on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, accompanied by a glass of wine. The afternoon continues with a trip up Mount Vesuvius. A professional mountain guide leads a hike to the crater’s edge at 1,280 meters above sea level. Here, visitors can look inside the crater and see panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples. The tour lasts about nine hours in total and includes skip-the-line entrance tickets, an air-conditioned minibus, and pickup from a meeting point in Sorrento.
