by Bakana Sailing
This private sailing tour in Bacalar lasts about three hours and takes place on a motor-free catamaran that moves using wind power. The group, consisting only of family or friends, will navigate through the lagoon’s mangroves and visit remote spots less frequented by tourists. During the trip, there will be opportunities for bird watching and swimming in areas with clear water. The tour includes tasting local seasonal exotic fruits while enjoying the natural surroundings. Bottled water and snacks are provided on board.
Bertilla Lagoon Meeting
The meeting point is Bertilla Lagoon where Captain Sara provides all catamaran instructions before departure. The route heads south toward the Esmeralda and Cocalítos cenotes, located deep in the southern area, noted for their clear waters caused by stromatolites. The surroundings transition into jungle, mangroves, and wetlands, offering a quiet environment combined with the boat's movement that promotes relaxation. The boat stops at an abandoned pier where guests may swim while Sara prepares a seasonal fruit snack. The journey continues to Bird Island, a refuge for local and migratory birds, where there is an opportunity to swim in warm waters and watch the sunset. The return trip concludes at the starting point, traveling under sail with the wind and speed, completing the experience of Bacalar.
