Overview

This private customizable tour from Canmore lasts between eight and eleven hours, depending on the chosen itinerary and group preferences. The tour includes visits to Banff National Park and surrounding areas, with stops at Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and six additional sights. Transportation is provided in a comfortable SUV for groups under six or a van for a fully private vehicle all day. Due to park regulations, Moraine Lake access in summer for SUV bookings requires sharing a 15-passenger shuttle with another small group, while van bookings have private vehicle access to Moraine Lake. The first stop is Lake Louise, where guests have about 30 minutes to walk along the lakeshore, take photos, and optionally visit the Fairmont Chateau or rent a canoe. Moraine Lake is next, with approximately one hour to enjoy the turquoise waters and surrounding peaks; access is by shuttle in summer. Additional stops include Peyto Lake and Bow Lake, each offering views of glacial-fed turquoise waters and mountain scenery. Crowfoot Glacier is viewed briefly for about ten minutes to see its distinctive three-toed shape. Johnston Canyon features a 1.5-mile (2.75 km) trail with seven waterfalls; guests can walk about one kilometer (20 minutes) to reach the lower falls and a small cave for close views. Other stops are Mount Norquay Lookout, Bow Falls with its wide waterfall on the Bow River, and Surprise Corner for photos. In winter only, the tour includes Emerald Lake and Natural Bridge in Yoho National Park. The tour includes bottled water, air conditioning, Parks Canada entry fees, admission fees, and Moraine Lake shuttle access. Lunch is not included but there is a stop in Lake Louise Village where guests can purchase food. Total tour time includes travel between stops. The itinerary is fully customizable to suit the interests and pace of the group.

Itinerary

1

Lake Louise

Lake Louise is an alpine lake in Banff National Park with turquoise waters and mountain views. Parking is limited, so the guide drops off and picks up guests to maximize their time. Visitors have 60 minutes to walk along the shore, take photos, visit the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, rent canoes, or hike short trails.

30 min

2

Moraine Lake

Moraine Lake is accessible only by shuttle during summer due to park regulations. It is known for its turquoise waters surrounded by rugged peaks and forests. SUV bookings with fewer than six passengers share a 15-passenger shuttle with one other private group of up to six people for this stop. To have a 100% private vehicle all day, the Van Tour must be booked.

60 min

3

Peyto Lake

Peyto Lake features vivid turquoise waters caused by glacial rock flour, surrounded by snow-capped peaks and forests. Visitors have about 30 minutes to observe the lake’s colors and setting.

30 min

4

Crowfoot Glacier

Crowfoot Glacier, named for its three-toed shape, is viewed for about 10 minutes. It displays rugged ice formations shaped by natural forces in Banff National Park.

Johnston Canyon

Johnston Canyon offers a 1.5-mile (2.75 km) trail with seven waterfalls along a creek and canyon. The trail is mostly gentle and suitable for all ages. 60 min

7

Emerald Lake

Emerald Lake is accessible only in winter in Yoho National Park. It has turquoise waters caused by glacial silt and is surrounded by mountains and forests. It is suitable for canoeing, hiking, and photography, with about 30 minutes to visit.
