Overview

This full-day private tour covers major ancient Egyptian sites around Cairo, focusing on the historical development of pyramid construction and early capitals. The day begins with hotel pickup at 8:00 am in Cairo or Giza. The first stop is the Giza Plateau, where the guide leads a visit to the three main pyramids: Khufu (Great Pyramid), Khafre, and Menkaure. Visitors also see the Valley Temple, where priests prepared the body of King Khafre, and get a close view of the Great Sphinx, the limestone statue with a lion’s body and human head. Next, the tour moves to the Dahshur area, about 40 kilometers south of Cairo. Here, the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid, among the oldest and best-preserved pyramids dating back to 2613 - 2589 BCE, are explored. After Dahshur, the group heads to Memphis, once Egypt’s ancient capital, where the colossal statue of Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx are on display. Memphis dates back to around 3100 BCE. The final visit is to the Sakkara necropolis, which predates the Giza pyramids and includes several important structures. Highlights include the Pyramid of Teti, built as Pharaoh Teti's tomb; the Pyramid of Unas; and the Mastaba of Ti, known for its detailed wall reliefs discovered by Auguste Mariette. The private air-conditioned vehicle is used for all transfers, and the tour includes entry fees, a local guide, bottled water, and hotel pickup and drop-off. The entire tour lasts about eight hours.
