Overview

This private tour offers a flexible half-day or full-day visit to key sites in New Delhi by air-conditioned car with hotel pickup and drop-off included. A government-approved guide provides commentary throughout the trip. The tour begins with a visit to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a Sikh temple noted for its sacred pool and historical ties to the eighth Sikh Guru. Next, the group stops at Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque built in 1656, where visitors walk through the red sandstone courtyard opposite the Red Fort. Participants take a bicycle rickshaw ride through the busy lanes and market of Chandni Chowk. The tour continues with a visit to Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market, where guests learn about various Indian spices. There is also a drive-by past the Red Fort in Old Delhi. The itinerary includes stops at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the Indian President, and the India Gate war memorial located along Rajpath. If the full-day option is selected, the tour will also include visits to Humayun’s Tomb, commissioned in 1558 by Empress Bega Begum and designed by Persian architects, Lodi Gardens with several tombs dating back to the Delhi Sultanate period, and Agrasen ki Baoli, a protected 60-meter-long stepwell near Connaught Place. The entire tour lasts between about four to seven hours, depending on the option chosen. Bottled water is provided during the tour.
