Overview

This full-day bus tour of about 9 and a half hours takes you across key sites in Provence, starting from Avignon. You will visit Fontaine de Vaucluse, a town set in a steep valley known for its emerald-green spring with one of the world's highest flow rates, accessible by a riverside path. Next, the tour stops in Gordes, where you can admire the village's white and gray stone houses spiraling up a rocky hill, offering panoramic views. The tour continues to the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Sénanque, located in the Luberon region, known for its striking architecture amid natural scenery. Then you reach Roussillon, a village famed for its ochre-colored buildings in shades of yellow, orange, and red. Here you have about an hour and a half to explore the colorful streets and squares and find your own place for lunch. In Saint-Remy-de-Provence, the birthplace of Nostradamus and an art and culture center linked to Van Gogh, you will spend 45 minutes learning about the town’s historical significance. The village of Les Baux-de-Provence follows, perched on a rocky spur with a notable citadel and architectural heritage reflecting its medieval past. The final stop is Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct bridge, the highest of its kind in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can spend 45 minutes. The tour includes air-conditioned transport and allows time for travel within the total duration. Lunch is not provided, so you will arrange your own meal during the break in Roussillon. During mid-June to late July, a stop at a lavender field is included if in bloom. On Sunday mornings, there is a market visit in L’Isle sur la Sorgues. This itinerary covers a range of landscapes, historical sites, and cultural points in one day.
