Overview

The Reykjavik Food Lovers Tour with Traditional Icelandic Food Tastings lasts about two and a half to three hours. Participants meet at Ingolfur Square five minutes before the scheduled start time. The tour begins near the old Reykjavik harbor with a tasting of Icelandic shellfish soup, highlighting local seafood. On weekends during the day, the tour includes a 30-minute walk through the Reykjavik Flea Market, open Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm, where various traditional Icelandic foods are sampled. Next, the group visits the original Icelandic lamb hot dog stall established in 1937 for a tasting. The tour continues with a serving of Icelandic lamb soup and other traditional dishes. Afterwards, participants stop at a local delicacy store to try unique Icelandic snacks and candies. The final stop is Restaurant Dass near Hallgrimskirkja church, where several Icelandic specialties are served, including fermented shark (Hakarl). The tour concludes with a choice of an alcoholic or non-alcoholic Icelandic drink, such as a special beer or the Icelandic schnapps known as Black Death. Water is provided at every stop. A professional guide leads the group throughout, and dietary restrictions and allergies are accommodated when possible. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not included.
