Aurora Reykjavík Northern Lights Center is Iceland's first museum fully dedicated to the Aurora Borealis, located in the Grandi Harbour District of Reykjavik. The visit lasts about one hour and offers a multimedia presentation on the northern lights. Inside, you can explore interactive displays covering the myths of the northern lights from Arctic cultures and the scientific explanation of the phenomenon, including how the lights form and how human eyes perceive them. The center features a 4K timelapse movie showing 30 minutes of northern lights captured across Iceland in a movie theater setting. It also offers the world’s first 360-degree northern lights virtual reality experience, allowing you to view the lights as if you were outdoors in Icelandic nature. Before heading out on an Aurora hunt, the center provides practical advice on reading forecasts and improving your chances of seeing the lights. You can also use the northern lights photo simulator to practice adjusting your camera settings for ideal nighttime photography. The knowledgeable team is available to answer questions and share insights throughout your visit. Included in the price are all taxes and local fees. Headphones for the QR audioguides are not included but can be brought along or bought at the center for an extra fee.
