Overview

Travel through scenic vineyards and charming villages to reach the medieval Laufen Castle, home to the spectacular Rhine Falls—Europe’s largest waterfall. Spend about an hour exploring this natural wonder at your own pace. Take in breathtaking views from the panoramic lift and stroll the Belvedere trail to a platform above the roaring falls. In summer, enjoy an optional boat ride to get even closer to the thundering waters. Visit the Historama exhibition at the castle to learn about the site's rich history. On the return trip, pass the picturesque town of Schaffhausen with its 16th-century Munot Fortress, and enjoy a brief drive through Germany before arriving back in Zurich.
