Overview

This half-day bus tour in Rio de Janeiro covers two of the city's main landmarks, the Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugar Loaf Hill. The tour starts with a pickup from selected hotels in Leblon, Ipanema, and Copacabana. It begins at Copacabana Beach and continues through neighborhoods such as Botafogo and passes the State Governor's residence. Next, the route enters Tijuca Forest, a tropical rainforest covering about 32 square kilometers. At Paineiras, participants transfer to official park vehicles to ascend Corcovado Hill. At the top, there is about 45 minutes to view the 38-meter tall Christ the Redeemer statue made of reinforced concrete and soapstone tiles, and to see panoramic views of Rio. If weather conditions reduce visibility, the tour stops at Mirante Dona Marta for approximately 25 minutes to see landmarks including Sugar Loaf Mountain, Maracanã Stadium, Guanabara Bay, and Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. The tour then visits Largo do Boticário in the Cosme Velho neighborhood, known for neo-colonial houses and Atlantic Forest vegetation. The final stop is Sugar Loaf Hill, reached by two cable cars. The first ride goes to Urca Hill at 220 meters above sea level with views over Guanabara Bay. After a short stay, the second cable car ascends to the 396-meter summit of Sugar Loaf Mountain, where there is about 30 minutes to enjoy views of Rio de Janeiro. The tour includes transportation in a deluxe van, bilingual certified guide, hotel pickup and drop-off, and entrance fees. Tickets can be excluded if preferred and purchased on site. The entire tour lasts about five hours.
