After hotel pickups, the route passes by Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon except on Sundays. The lagoon connects to the Atlantic Ocean through a canal near Jardim de Alah park. The drive also passes Flamengo’s soccer club headquarters while the guide explains the rivalries among Rio’s four major soccer teams: Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, and Vasco da Gama.
Maracana
The tour stops for 15 minutes at Maracanã Stadium for an external lap around the venue and a brief pause in front of it. Opened in 1950 for Brazil’s first World Cup, the stadium has hosted two World Cup Finals and was used extensively during recent World Cups and the Olympics.
