This four-hour fishing tour in Hoonah is designed for cruise ship passengers seeking a less common Alaskan outing. The trip begins with a drive through the Alaska Native Tlingit village of Hoonah. Afterward, the route continues along old logging roads leading to a remote river located within the Tongass National Forest on Chichagof Island. Along the way and by the river, participants often see wildlife, including the island's dense brown bear population. At the river, guests put on provided waders and use fishing gear to catch Salmon and/or Trout. Fishing can take place at a single spot or by moving along the river to different fishing holes. Depending on the season, the group may observe salmon spawning and find wild berries near the riverbanks. After fishing and bear watching, the tour returns along the logging roads to Hoonah, where participants are dropped off at the port or another location in town. Private transportation, fishing gear, and waders are included, but a fishing license is not provided.
