Overview

Rome’s Appian Way is one of the oldest roads in the city, lined with ancient ruins and aqueducts. This 4.5-hour tour combines a private shuttle and e-bike ride to explore its key sites. The tour begins at Circus Maximus, where participants board the shuttle for a 20-minute drive to the Catacombs of San Callisto or San Sebastiano. Here, a guided visit lasts about 45 minutes inside the underground tunnels. After the catacombs, the shuttle continues to the area near the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella. From there, participants walk about three minutes on original Roman paving to reach their e-bikes. The cycling section covers roughly two hours along the Appian Way (Via Appia Antica), passing ancient tombs, aqueduct arches, and fields within the Appia Antica Regional Park. Riders will visit the Aqueduct Park for about an hour to see the aqueduct arches, then continue through Tor Fiscale Park for 20 minutes and the Caffarella Park for 15 minutes, experiencing Roman countryside landscapes. The tour includes an e-bike, helmet, private round-trip transfer from Circus Maximus, a baby seat if needed (up to 20 kg), a poncho for rain, ticket entrance to the catacombs, and a local guide throughout. Refreshments are not provided. After the cycling portion, participants return by shuttle to Circus Maximus.
