The Colosseum, also called the Flavian Amphitheater, is a large elliptical structure located in the center of Rome. Construction began in 72 AD under Emperor Vespasian and completed in 80 AD during Titus's reign. It remains one of the largest ancient Roman constructions. It is situated near the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
