Overview

This private walking tour of Rome's city center lasts about two and a half hours and covers major landmarks along a route from the Spanish Steps to Piazza Navona. The tour provides a look at Rome’s artistic, historical, and legendary sites, moving through time from the Roman Empire to the present day. You start at the Spanish Steps, a baroque monument and popular meeting spot in Rome’s fashion district, spending about 15 minutes there. Next is the Trevi Fountain, where you can toss a coin into the central ocean feature guarded by waves and Tritons, with 20 minutes allocated to this stop. On the way, you will pass Piazza di Pietra, home to the ancient temple of Emperor Hadrian. The tour then visits the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola for 25 minutes to see its famous baroque dome, ceiling paintings, and the tomb of Pope Gregory XV. Afterwards, you enter the Pantheon, the best-preserved Roman building, where you learn about its engineering, legends, and the tomb of the artist Raffaello during a 25-minute visit. Following the Pantheon, you spend 20 minutes inside the Church of St. Louis of the French, which houses three renowned paintings by Caravaggio. The tour ends with a 20-minute stop at Piazza Navona, a baroque square built over an ancient Roman stadium, featuring the Church of St. Agnes and the Fountain of the Four Rivers. A professional local guide leads the entire private tour. Tickets to the sites are included. Hotel pickup, drop-off, and private transportation are not provided.
