Overview

This tour begins at the Trevi Fountain District in Rome, starting with about ten minutes at the Trevi Fountain, the largest Baroque fountain in the city. Visitors may toss a coin into the fountain if they wish, following local tradition. Afterward, the group proceeds to the nearby Vicus Caprarius, also known as the City of Water, for a 45-minute guided visit. This underground archaeological site lies approximately nine meters below street level and was discovered in 1999 beneath a cinema basement. The guide leads visitors through three sections of the site, explaining its history and significance. The tour includes viewing an ancient aqueduct with a visible water tank connected to the Vergine aqueduct, polychrome marble coverings, the head of Alessandro Helios, a collection of 800 coins, African amphorae called spatheia used for transporting oil, and the remains of an underground Domus (Roman house). The total duration of the tour is approximately 55 minutes. Included are reserved entry tickets to Vicus Caprarius and access to the Trevi Fountain area, along with assistance from Touristation staff throughout the tour. An option to add Italian gelato is available. Food, drinks, and hotel pickup are not included. The meeting point is at Vicolo del Puttarello 25. This tour is not suitable for people with mobility impairments.
