Overview

This 1.5-hour small-group tour includes skip-the-line entry to the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Groups are limited to 30 people. An experienced guide leads the visit, providing detailed information about the church’s construction history, architectural style, and artistic features. The tour covers Antoni Gaudí’s role as chief architect from 1883, his combination of Gothic and curvilinear Art Nouveau forms, and the ongoing construction that passed its midpoint in 2010 and aims to finish by 2026. Visitors gain access to areas not open to the general public, including the terrace with panoramic views over Barcelona. The guide explains the challenges faced during construction and Gaudí’s lifetime dedication to the project. After the tour, visitors may choose to explore the adjacent museum dedicated to the basilica’s construction. Headphones are provided for groups larger than 10 to hear the guide clearly. The tour does not include admission to the towers, hotel pickup, transportation, or food and drinks. Visitors should arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the start time and follow the dress code, which prohibits see-through clothing, swimwear, and special clothing with decorations for artistic, religious, promotional, or festive purposes.

Basilica de la Sagrada Familia

Construction began in 1882 with architect Francisco de Paula del Villar. Antoni Gaudí took over in 1883, redesigning the project with Gothic and Art Nouveau forms. Gaudí dedicated the rest of his life to the basilica and is buried in its crypt. At his death in 1926, less than 25% was complete. Construction passed the halfway point in 2010 and is planned to finish by 2026, marking 100 years since Gaudí's death. The tour covers the church’s history, challenges, and architectural details. After the tour, visitors can access the construction museum.
