Overview

This seven-hour tour in San Francisco combines a small-group city sightseeing tour with a visit to Alcatraz Island. The tour begins with a guided ride in an open-air vehicle seating up to 12 people. The guide drives through San Francisco’s distinctive neighborhoods, pointing out landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Haight-Ashbury, and the Painted Ladies. Stops include a 30-minute visit at the Golden Gate Bridge area, 15 minutes driving through Chinatown with a possible walk to the Fortune Cookie Factory, a 30-minute stop in Haight-Ashbury, and a 15-minute stop at the Painted Ladies in Alamo Square. The route also passes Golden Gate Park, Tank Hill for a 15-minute viewpoint, and Pacific Heights by vehicle. After about four hours on the city portion, the group is taken to Pier 33 for hotel pickup included. At Pier 33, guests board the ferry to Alcatraz Island. The official Alcatraz ticket and ferry ride are included. Visitors receive an audio walking tour of the former prison and can spend two to three hours exploring the cellhouse and the island independently. Ferries back to the city run every 30 to 40 minutes, with the last ferry typically leaving around 6:30pm. The audio tour is available in multiple languages. Passengers over 18 must show government ID to collect ferry tickets after the city tour. Gratuities and food or drinks are not included in the price.
