Overview

This full-day bus tour lasts about 13 hours and departs from Edinburgh to the Scottish Highlands. The first stop is in Perthshire for around 30 minutes, where travelers can rest and see Highland cows. The route continues through Cairngorms National Park, home to some of the highest mountains in the British Isles, including Ben Macdui and Braeriach. The tour then reaches Loch Ness, where there is a one-hour stop. Guests may choose to take an optional cruise on Loch Ness that includes entry to Urquhart Castle, or they can stay on shore to enjoy the loch’s scenery. Urquhart Castle sits on the banks of Loch Ness and offers wide views of the loch; access to the castle is included only with the cruise. After Loch Ness, the tour stops for about 15 minutes at Glencoe National Nature Reserve, where the driver guide shares the history of the Glencoe massacre and travelers can photograph the valley’s peaks. The vehicle has air conditioning and panoramic windows, and a local live driver guide provides commentary throughout the day. Entrance fees, food, drinks, and gratuities are not included. Children under three years are not allowed on the tour. On December 26 and January 1, the Loch Ness cruise and Urquhart Castle visit are not available. Check-in is at 7:45 a.m. with departure at 8:00 a.m. The tour may operate in reverse order depending on conditions. The Loch Ness cruise and Urquhart Castle entrance fees are payable in cash on the day and do not require prebooking.
