Overview

Participants begin by meeting in Thingvellir National Park, where they prepare for snorkeling in the Silfra Fissure. This guided small-group snorkeling tour lasts about three hours and includes all the necessary gear: snorkel, goggles, fins, drysuit, thermal undersuit, hood, and boots. The certified PADI Divemaster leads groups of up to six guests, ensuring safety and comfort in the water. Once suited up, travelers enter the cold, clear waters between two continental plates, moving through volcanic rock walls that drift apart approximately 2 centimeters each year. The underwater environment features bright blue water and unique rock formations. After snorkeling, participants receive hot chocolate and cookies. Underwater photos taken during the activity are provided for free. This tour does not include transportation from Reykjavík; participants must arrive at Thingvellir independently. Towels, change of clothes, and socks are not provided and should be brought by guests. The operator requires all participants to review a snorkeling handbook beforehand, and swimming ability, water comfort, and English comprehension are mandatory. The minimum age is 12, and those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult booked on the tour. Contact lenses should be worn if vision correction is needed, as glasses cannot be used under the goggles. Thermal and dry suits are supplied to wear over clothing. Medical conditions outlined in the handbook may require a doctor’s approval or prevent participation. Pregnant individuals cannot join due to safety concerns.
