Overview

The tour begins with a hotel pickup in Reykjavik, followed by a one-hour drive to Thingvellir National Park. During the drive, the guide shares information about Iceland’s geology, cultural history, and the Silfra fissure located within this UNESCO World Heritage site. After arriving, participants receive a drysuit, warm undersuit, and snorkeling gear. The guide explains how to use the equipment and how to stay warm during the swim. Changing and gearing up take about one hour in a heated van. A short five-minute walk leads to the Silfra snorkeling area. The snorkeling itself lasts between 30 and 45 minutes and covers Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral, and Silfra Lagoon. The water is cold but clear, allowing visibility over 100 meters as swimmers move between two tectonic plates. After the swim, the group returns to the heated van for hot chocolate and cookies while chatting with the guide. This small-group tour takes about 5.5 hours in total and includes all necessary snorkeling equipment, a PADI instructor guide, entrance fee to Silfra, and hotel pickup and drop-off. Dry suits and warm undersuits are provided to keep participants dry and warm in the cold water. The activity is suitable for swimmers aged 12 and older who are physically fit and comfortable in water.
