Overview

This full-day bus tour from Reykjavik covers key natural sites along Iceland's South Coast over about 10 hours. The trip includes visits to two major waterfalls, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss. At Skogafoss, the tour stops for 45 minutes to view the 200-foot tall waterfall and offers the option to climb stairs for a view from above. The group spends 35 minutes at Seljalandsfoss, where walking behind the waterfall is possible in good weather. The route also includes a 45-minute stop at Reynisfjara, a black sand and pebble beach known for its basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks offshore. There is a 40-minute stop at Solheimajokull, an outlet glacier of Myrdalsjokull. The tour pauses for a 1-hour lunch break in Vik at a local restaurant (food not included). Along the way, the guide points out several volcanoes visible from the road, including Hekla, Eyjafjallajokull, and Katla. Hekla is noted as one of Iceland's most active volcanoes, historically thought to be the entrance to hell. Eyjafjallajokull is famous for its 2010 eruption that disrupted European air traffic. The tour is conducted by bus with onboard WiFi and air conditioning. Hotel pickup and drop-off are available if selected.
