Overview

This full-day tour by air-conditioned minibus begins in Reykjavik with a small group of up to 19 passengers and an English-speaking driver/guide. The guide provides commentary throughout the 10 to 11 hour trip, sharing facts and information about the Icelandic landscape. The tour covers several major sights along the South Shore, starting with a visit to Skogafoss waterfall, which has a 60-metre drop and often produces rainbows on sunny days. Next, the minibus travels to the Sólheimajökull Glacier, where passengers have about 30 minutes to admire views of the glacier and the nearby ocean. Afterward, the group heads to Reynisfjara black sand beach near the village of Vik and the Dyrholaey headland. The stop here lasts roughly one hour and includes viewing basalt columns, cliffs, sea stacks, and during the summer months, puffins on the grassy ledges. A café is available at the beach for food and drinks, although lunch is not included in the tour price. The final main stop is at Seljalandsfoss waterfall, located along the coastal road at the foot of Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Here visitors can walk behind the waterfall through the spray, so wearing waterproof clothing is recommended. The guide may add extra stops depending on time, weather, and road conditions. The tour includes hotel pickup in Reykjavik, WiFi on board, and all activities, but food, drinks, and gratuities must be paid separately. Moderate walking is required at some sights, but most can be viewed easily without long walks.
