Overview

This full-day tropical tour of southwest Mauritius lasts about seven to eight hours and includes hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere on the island. The tour begins with a visit to Trou aux Cerfs, a dormant volcanic crater located approximately 605 meters above sea level. The crater is about 350 meters in diameter and 100 meters deep, surrounded by native forest. Visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view of Curepipe, Rempart Mountain, Trois Mamelles, and the Moka mountain range. Next, the tour stops at Mare aux Vacoas, the largest reservoir on the island with a capacity of nearly 26 million cubic meters, set within dense forest. Afterward, the group visits Grand Bassin, also known as Ganga Talao, a crater lake about 550 meters above sea level. This sacred site features a temple complex and a 33-meter-high statue of Lord Shiva, the tallest statue in Mauritius. The tour continues to Alexandra Falls, situated around 700 meters above sea level. Visitors can view the waterfall and the southeast coast from a wooden platform. Then, there is a stop at the Black River Gorges Viewpoint inside the national park, offering panoramic views of valleys, hills, and a waterfall amid rainforest. The next destination is the Twenty-Three Coloured Earths, an area of sand dunes with seven distinct colors formed from volcanic clay minerals. Nearby are a tortoise park, souvenir shop, and coffee shop. Following this, the tour visits Chamouny Waterfall, a single-drop waterfall surrounded by dense vegetation. A three-course Mauritian lunch is served at a local restaurant, with options including salads, rice, soups, chicken curry or fish, and vegetables. After lunch, the tour proceeds to Rhumerie de Saint Aubin, where visitors tour the rum distillery and taste various rums made from sugar cane. The final stop is the Bois Chéri Tea Factory, where guests learn about the tea industry and production while tasting several types of tea, including flavored and herbal varieties. The factory grounds offer a panoramic view of the south coast. The tour includes private air-conditioned transport, beverages during lunch (non-alcoholic), bottled water upon arrival, all entrance fees, a certified guide/driver, and hotel pickup and drop-off. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.
