Overview

Visit the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Budj Bim Cultural Landscape. Take a guided tour of the Tae Rak (Lake Condah) wetlands for an overview of the Gunditjmara creation story, the life cycle of Kooyang (eels), and the lake's extensive marine and birdlife. See the extensive aquaculture systems designed to trap and harvest Kooyang (eel) for food and trade, fish traps, and remnants of ancient Aboriginal stone houses.

Accessibility Info The 2-hour walk is undertaken in two parts The first hour of the tour is at the Aquaculture Centre building, the eel holding tank, and out on the boardwalk over the lake This part of the tour is accessible by prams and wheelchairs, and participants with limited mobility The second hour of the tour takes you down the western side of the lake, and in parts through long grass, and over uneven ground This part of the tour is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs For participants with limited mobility, please note that there is no rest areas or seating available during this second hour of the tour
