Overview

The tour starts with a hotel pickup and a drive to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. Visitors spend about two hours exploring this historic site, known for its distinctive blue-tiled buildings where emperors once worshiped the God of Heaven. On Mondays, when the Temple of Heaven is closed, the tour visits Beihai Park instead. At the Temple of Heaven, participants see the large circular palace with its triple-layered blue glazed tile roof and the open-air altar used for Winter Solstice sacrifices. Next, the tour continues with a rickshaw ride through the narrow alleys of Beijing’s Hutong neighborhoods, followed by a visit to a traditional courtyard to observe local life. After this, the group visits the Lama Temple, the largest and best-preserved Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Beijing, spending about an hour there. The final stop is the Summer Palace, where visitors explore its grounds centered on Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake. The guide leads the group through the imperial gardens and architectural sites for about two hours. The tour ends with a return to the hotel. The entire trip lasts around 10 to 11 hours and is conducted in a small group of about 12 people. It includes an air-conditioned vehicle, entrance fees to the Temple of Heaven, Hutongs, Lama Temple, and Summer Palace, bottled water, and a headset for the guide’s commentary. There are no stops for shopping or other distractions, allowing more time at the main sites.
