All participants must have special documents to drive in Japan. For most countries, an International Driving Permit (IDP) in booklet form compliant with the 1949 Geneva Convention is required. Valid IDPs are only issued by the country that issued the domestic license and cannot be obtained online while traveling. For Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium, or Monaco, a Japanese translation of the license from the Japan Automobile Federation (JAF) is required instead of an IDP.
Licenses from countries not covered by the 1949 Geneva Convention, including China, Indonesia, Mexico, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, are not allowed to drive in Japan.
Participants must carry their physical International Driving Permit or, if from exceptional countries listed above, the physical domestic license plus the official Japanese translation, along with their physical passport.
A domestic license alone is not accepted as a legal document for driving in Japan.
Street Kart will contact participants within 24 hours after booking confirmation with details about the exact documents required.
The minimum age to participate is 18 years.
