The Tokyo Shinjuku Chopsticks Making Class takes place in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo. The one-hour workshop begins with participants selecting their wood from several Japanese varieties, including two types provided at no extra cost and additional premium woods available for an extra fee. Using a traditional Japanese hand plane called a kanna, attendees shape and smooth raw wooden sticks into a finished pair of chopsticks. The class offers step-by-step, hands-on instruction suitable for beginners with no prior woodworking experience. All tools and materials needed for the chopstick making process are supplied during the session. Tips are optional and not included in the price.
Chopsticks-Handcrafting Workshop
Participants will use a traditional Japanese kanna, a small hand plane, to carve their own pair of chopsticks starting from raw wood. Under staff guidance, they will smooth, shape, and add personal touches to their chopsticks. This hands-on cultural activity is designed for beginners.
