Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail

The tour visits four wineries selected from many on Old Mission Peninsula. Options include Peninsula Cellars at the Old School House, Chateau Grand Traverse which helped establish the region, Mari Vineyards known for a local legend, Hawthorne Vineyards with views of two bays from the tasting room, Bry's Estates ranked among Michigan's top ten, Chateau Chantal overlooking both bays, Bowers Harbor Vineyards known as the dog-friendly winery, Bonobo Winery with a Hollywood theme, and Old Mission Distillers known for strong pours and mixed drinks alongside their wines. Guests can specify preferred wineries or leave the choice to the guide.

Grand Traverse Bay

Grand Traverse Bay is a 32-mile-long arm of Lake Michigan split into East and West arms by the Old Mission Peninsula. It ranges from 7 to 10 miles wide and reaches depths up to 620 feet. The bay's name comes from 18th-century French voyageurs who crossed its mouth. The tour route includes driving along the shoreline with views of East Bay when traveling from Traverse City to Hawthorne Vineyards, and West Bay views on the way from Hawthorne to Bowers Harbor, with additional views of both bays during other parts of the tour.
