Overview

Uluru is a large sandstone monolith in central Australia with deep cultural importance to the Anangu people. This small-group walking tour covers the entire 12-kilometre base of Uluru at sunrise, allowing a close-up view of the rock and its surroundings. The tour starts with a hotel pickup in an air-conditioned Mercedes Benz Sprinter and includes entry to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The guide provides background on the park's entry requirements and the option to purchase tickets if needed. Over about five hours, the group walks the full base trail while the guide shares stories about the local culture, geology, and environment. Participants see waterholes, rock art sites, and hear Aboriginal creation stories including those of Kuniya (woma python) and Liru (venomous snake). A light outback picnic breakfast with tea and coffee is provided in a satchel during the walk. The guide is available for questions throughout. Entrance fees are not included. The walk is on an even surface but requires a moderate level of fitness and comfortable shoes.
