Overview

This guided tour in Kauai lasts about six hours and combines kayaking and hiking along the Wailua River. The group uses double sit-on-top ocean kayaks and paddles two miles upstream from the starting point at Coconut Marketplace. Along the way, the guide shares stories about the river's Hawaiian history and points out local landmarks such as Kamokila Village. After paddling, the group hikes approximately 2.5 miles round trip on the Secret Falls Trail through rainforest and boardwalk sections to reach the 120-foot Uluwehi Falls. The hike terrain varies from dry to muddy depending on recent weather. After visiting the falls, participants paddle back to the original launch site. The tour includes life jackets, bottled water, snacks, small coolers, parking fees, water-resistant dry bags, and certified guides trained in lifeguard, CPR, and first aid. Hotel pickup, lunch, gratuities, and entrance fees are not included. No prior kayak experience is needed, but guests must be able to paddle four miles total and hike over uneven ground. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and the minimum age is five years old.
