Book on Viator Confirmed right away, but you pay full price.$40This walking tour covers the oldest streets and historic sites of South St. Augustine, lasting about one hour to seventy minutes. The route covers less than a mile on uneven cobblestone streets, so sturdy footwear is recommended. The tour begins with a ten-minute stop discussing the downfall and death of a wealthy Boston banker swindled by Henry Flagler and his two hotels. Next is a five-minute visit to a Coquina stone building originally part of the former defense wall, where the guide explains who is said to keep watch. The tour continues with a five-minute stop at Casa de Horruytiner, a first-period Spanish home. Then, the Segui-Kirby Smith House is visited for five minutes; this was once home to a Confederate General and is said to be watched over by his mother. A ten-minute stop follows at the Spanish Military Hospital Museum, located on the oldest street in the United States, where the guide discusses its grim history. The tour then passes the former Old City jail, now the closed Antiques and Uniques Collectibles shop, reputed to be haunted, with a five-minute stop outside. The final stop is the Ximenez-Fatio House Museum, a three-story Coquina stone residence where the guide spends ten minutes describing its historical residents. During the tour, the guide may use dowsing rods, and participants are welcome to use any ghost-detecting apps on their phones. Photographs taken become the property of Early Haunts. Alcoholic beverages are not included or permitted on the tour.
