Whitney Plantation

Situated on the original Habitation Haydel estate, the Whitney Plantation opened in 2014 as Louisiana's only museum focused on slavery. It tells the intertwined history of the Haydel family, German immigrants, and the slaves they held. The plantation has a 262-year history and features museum exhibits, memorial artwork, restored buildings, and hundreds of first-person slave narratives to provide insight into the lives of enslaved people in Louisiana.
