Overview

This whale watching tour departs from Granville Island in Vancouver on an open air vessel for about five hours. Passengers have the chance to see whales and other marine wildlife behaving naturally, as the vessel maintains respectful distances without disturbing the animals. The tour is led by marine naturalists who provide information about the species and contribute observations to marine research and conservation efforts. The vessel is authorized to approach wildlife closer than most other boats while following strict safety and respect guidelines. Onboard, guests receive sunscreen and bottled water. Field guides and whale identification materials are available to borrow. Each passenger is provided with a full-length anti-exposure flotation suit to wear over their clothing. Single-use ear plugs and ginger candy for motion sickness can be requested during the trip. No snacks are included, and gratuities for the guide and captain are not included but appreciated. This tour is not recommended for children under five years old or people with neck problems.
