Overview

This walking tour lasts about 2 to 3 hours and covers the main parts of Zagreb, including both Upper and Lower Town. It begins at Zrinjevac Park, where you will hear stories about the city while enjoying photo opportunities. From there, the route passes through Bogovićeva street, known for its bars and restaurants, before reaching Ban Josip Jelacic Square, the city’s main meeting point. You will visit the Zagreb Cathedral, a key historic landmark, and then explore Dolac Market, the city’s oldest green market, where local food products and atmosphere are highlighted. The tour continues through Tunel Gric, a World War II tunnel under Grič Hill, which now serves as a shortcut and tourist attraction. The funicular railway ride is included if operating, providing a brief ascent to the medieval Upper Town. In Upper Town, you will visit Lotrscak Tower, home to the Grič cannon, and see panoramic views of the city. Stops include St. Marks Church, the Museum of Broken Relationships, the Croatian Government building, and Parliament. Afterward, you walk through the medieval Kamenita Vrata city gate and descend to Tkalčićeva Street, a lively pedestrian zone with many bars and restaurants. The tour is led by a licensed guide who provides history and cultural background throughout. Note that the funicular and WWII tunnels may not operate on some dates, and the funicular is closed for renovation until March 2026.
